Mission

Gems on Shelf is a two-fold invitation. An invitation to slow down, to pause on that idea we might overlook in our haste to move on to the next book. And a call to open our lives to literary tributaries.

Expectation

A book review. In this review, you'll get a summary and an overview of the major ideas in the book.

An essay in which I will bring the book into conversation with another book(s) and idea(s).

Reading with the critics. I offer a critical overview of a poem and add my own humble opinion to the critics'. Join the conversation by adding your own opinion.

In and out. I talk about what, how and why I read each week. Feel free to talk about what you read too.

Cost

There's no pay wall. If you find my writing worthwhile, you can BUY ME A COFFEE (you'll be surprised by what I can do with a cup where I live).

About me

I have written six books for children and young adults. I taught English in primary school for 10 years before moving to teach the same subject in secondary school. Currently, I serve as the principal of a private secondary school.
